On January 23, the academic seminar of the State Key Laboratory of Characteristic Metal Materials and Composite Structures, jointly built by the province and the Ministry, was held in the Yulin Hall of Junwu Building of our school. Vice President Xiao Jianzhuang and Yu Wenjin attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by the assistant President, the vice provost and the head of the Development Planning Department.

Xiao Jianzhuang expressed warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the participants, and pointed out that the laboratory should make continuous efforts on the basis of existing work, continue to be down-to-earth and actively innovate in the aspects of talent training, scientific research, discipline construction, school-enterprise cooperation, platform construction, and institutional mechanisms, and promote the high-quality construction and development of the provincial Ministry.

At the meeting, Yu Wenjin made a report on the latest policies and trends of national, autonomous region and school talents, encouraged the members of the laboratory to actively declare various talent plans, and offered suggestions for the introduction of school talents.

The relevant person in charge of the laboratory reviewed the overall situation of the construction of the laboratory in 2023 from the aspects of improving the mechanism and system, promoting organized scientific research activities, improving the ability to guarantee platform conditions, strengthening the construction of talent teams, and strengthening open exchanges and cooperation.

Subsequently, the person in charge of the laboratory's major science and technology projects made academic exchanges around the progress of the 2023 project.

The experts at the meeting gave full affirmation to the progress of the subject of the provincial Ministry, and gave specific suggestions and guidance from the aspects of material design, research methods and application scenarios. The academic discussion was lively and the atmosphere was strong.

This meeting invited Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Hefei University of Technology and other universities in the field of materials and structural engineering experts, as well as Guangxi Nannan Aluminum Processing Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Transportation Design Group Co., Ltd. to participate in the meeting online and offline.
